Off-grid energy storage for electric vehicle charging at THE LINE, NEOM
Sunstream International deployed a large-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) to power EV and e-bus charging during the construction of NEOM's THE LINE, enabling zero-emission mobility through locally generated solar energy.
Project Overview
THE LINE is a next-generation, car-free city being built in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. To support clean construction logistics, Sunstream International delivered an off-grid renewable energy storage system capable of powering high-demand charging without fossil fuels or grid connection.

Project Challenge
Enable high-power EV charging in a remote desert location with no grid access, while maintaining modularity and low environmental impact during ongoing construction.
Solution Delivered
Sunstream International deployed a modular BESS that:
• Stores solar energy for peak charging demand
• Functions as a standalone micro-grid
• Provides stable frequency and voltage for EV chargers
• Eliminates diesel generator dependency
Full site commissioning and acceptance testing verified performance in high-temperature desert conditions.
